KODAMA Sachiko

Born in 1970 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Graduated from the Faculty of Science at Hokkaido University. Completed both the Master's and Doctoral Program in Art and Design at the University of Tsukuba. Holds a Ph.D. in the theory and history of art. While at Tsukuba, Kodama produced installations incorporating computer and holography technology, and did research on the relationship between art and technology in the development of media art. In recent years, she has produced interactive works with digital equipment and new materials to explore the theoretical and practical aspects of media art. Principal exhibitions: works accepted for Artec '95 and Artec '97 (Nagoya City Science Museum); solo exhibition (Kobayashi Gallery, 1996); Para Para Parallax exhibit (Gallery NW House, Tokyo; organized by the artist; 1998); "Protrude, Flow" (project in collaboration with Minako Takeno begun in 2000) accepted for SIGGRAPH 2001 Art Gallery (Los Angeles Convention Center) and shown at Interaction '01 (Softopia Japan, Gifu). Kodama is currently a research associate at the University of Electro-Communications.
