1947 Born in Tottori, Tottori Prefecture, Japan. 1972 Taniguchi debuted with Kareta Heya (Husky Room) in Young Comics in 1972. His principal works include Blanca, "Botchan" no Jidai [about the Meiji period (1868_1912) in which Natsume Soseki's Botchan was written], Aruku Hito (Walking Man), and Inu wo Kau (Owning a Dog). He collaborated with Baku Yumemakura on Garouden [a manga about martial arts]. 1992 Inu wo Kau won the Shogakukan Manga Award. 1993 "Botchan" no Jidai won the Japan Cartoonists Association Award. 1998 "Botchan" no Jidai won the Second Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize Grand Prix. 1999 Harukana Machi E ("A Town Far Away") won the 1999 (3rd) Media Arts Festival Excellence Prize. Recently His Award-winning Works are currently serialized in Business Jump. Another manga, Ten no Taka (Sky Hawk), is serialized intermittently in Manga Action.
