88 from 14,000 is based on mug-shots of 88 out of the 14,000 people killed at the Tuol Sleng Prison during the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. The artist identified 88 photographs for which the dates of incarceration and execution could be established. Each image is projected onto a veil of falling sand.
