Reason for Award
This is a work with an epoch-making style. Avalon was filmed entirely on location in Poland. The story is set in the near future in the virtual world of a combat game. This work cleverly composites highly original digital images onto lushly filmed footage. We anticipate that this overwhelmingly innovative work will have a significant influence on the future of Japanese film.
