Five colors of string – cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), black (K), and white (W) – were attached by hand to over 3,000 nails arranged in a grid pattern to create a semi-three-dimensional portrait photograph. By arranging the strings in layers, the work produces the same effect as subtractive color mixing, creating a visualization of the printing process.
