Dreams Into Drawing

A film that combines the main character in A Carp in My Dream from UEDA Akinari’s Tales of Moonlight and Rain with the mid-Edo period painter KUWAGATA Keisai. Keisai falls asleep painting a carp, and in his dream becomes a calmly swimming carp who later gets caught. In visuals using Keisai’s sample sketch book Chojuryakugashiki as a motif, he is shown transforming into the carp and other creatures in his dream.
