fly blimps

Installation

David BOWEN

Outline

Three helium filled balloons slowly float around the room. A look at the main device attached to the balloons reveals dozens of houseflies inside. In fact, it is these insects that are determining the direction of the blimps. Sensors detect the changing light patterns produced by the movements of the flies, and this information instantly activates motors connected to propellers. Thus, the blimps move according to the behavioral patterns of the flies.
