Genjiro, an elderly fisherman in northern Japan, still goes out to sea every day. His wife Tome runs a small eatery by the harbor while awaiting his return. They live a quiet life until news arrives of the death of their only son, Ryuta, and his wife. The elderly couple decide to keep running their son’s cafe in the big city. What ensues is a heartwarming tale of family ties and parental love.
