Unable to accept her best friend’s death, Mika jumps in front of a truck to commit suicide, but is saved by the immortal HIBINO and a young man who claims to be a god. In hope of seeing her friend again, Mika volunteers to accompany the two on their journey to the nether world and experiences various views of death. “Hiraeth” in the Japanese title means nostalgia in the Welsh language. This is a wistful travel story about an emotionally susceptible girl’s sense of loss.
