Tuneblock

Application software [Japan]

TANAKA Jun (Graduate School of Tokyo University of Technology)

Outline

A sound sequencer created as an iPhone application under the concept “pinch to connect,” whereby the output of two units is linked by a pinching motion of the fingers across their two displays. Touching any point on a 16 by 8-position grid deposits a pin marker whose vertical position controls the pitch of the sound. If you place one iPhone next to another while Tuneblock running on both, then, pinching their screens makes the applications play their tune in sequence. Besides, when devices are placed in parallel position, their tunes are played in chorus.
