INOUE Takehiko

Born in 1967 in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Inoue won the Tezuka Award for Kaede Purple (Maple Purple) in 1988. His masterwork, Slam Dunk, was serialized beginning in 1990 and has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. Vagabond has been serialized in Weekly Morning since 1998. Inoue won the Kodansha Manga Award and Media Arts Festival, Agency for Cultural Affairs Grand Prize in the Manga Division in 2000. "Real" has been serialized intermittently in Young Jump since October 1999. When the first volume of Real was published in 2001, it sold more than a million copies.
