Cross-Field Haptics

A haptic (tactility-imparting) device that permits the changing of real-world textures. Through a combination of technologies, the device can reproduce such tactile sensations as softness, resistance, and vibration. Electrostatic and magnetic fields derived from electrostatic adsorption and magnetic fluid are combined to create the textures of various materials as well as living tissue, such as the heart and other organs.
