Extraordinary Machine

This photographic work generates a single silver halide print from massive amounts of data available through Google Street View and Google Images. Unlike conventional photographic methods that reproduce buildings at a smaller scale in two dimensions, the work creates a virtual cityscape from images that can be browsed on the Internet. Advances in media and technology have brought greater diversity to the world that people can see with their own eyes; this work uses three-dimensional computer graphics and digital manipulation—the eyes of the computer—to expand the possibilities of photography for a new age.
