Flame

The video work recomposes the fragments of a found film. A Finnish director Teuvo TULIO cre- ated a film Silja – Fallen Asleep When Young in 1937, but all the films were lost in a studio fire in 1959. In 2015, however, the remaining ni- trate films (combustible film no longer in use) were found at La Cinémathèque Française in Paris. Parts of the image are distorted and dis- colored as if they were deformed by the heat.
