Heart-net TV: #On the Night of August 31st

In Japan, the teen suicide rate is highest on September 1, the day after the end of summer vacation. This show combined TV broadcast- ing and digital technology to create a place where teens that find it painful to go to school and have suicidal thoughts can lay bare their true feelings the night before. To enable the exchange of words in real time while protecting privacy, the producers provided chat functions for smartphones and built a system that dis- plays avatars with hologram images.
