Kamichu!

There is no dramatic development or spectacle. What is depicted here is only a collection of mild and sweet episodes of a girl who became a “god” in a junior-high school in the countryside. But the artist’s careful drawing of little daily affairs of the girls takes on distinct fertility and strange universality, such as, for example, ITO Jakuchu painting animals and plants on the water’s edge with obsessive brushworks which can be said to be his special delight.
