Les larmes de la Seine

On October 17, 1961, Algerian workers gathered outside at night to manifest against the mandatory curfew imposed by the Paris Police Prefecture on Algerians. The work depicts an event in which a police crackdown reportedly resulted in the deaths of many people, with some thrown into the Seine River. By employing a depiction style in which a demonstration participant records the event using a hand-held camera, the work invites the viewers to relive the event.
