Mamagoto (Like a Girl Playing House)

Eiko, a bar proprietress who is haunted by her own carelessness in the tragic death of her beloved child, is suddenly forced to look after a youth named Taiji. This keenly observed story focuses on two characters who have visions of someday being a “regular family” as they stumble through their lives, playing at being a mother and son. The work is distinguished by a series of incisive gags and an affectionate and subtle visual style.
