Ooedo Kuniyoshi Yoshidukushi

Even UTAGAWA Kuniyoshi, well known through- out Edo as an unparalleled artist, had in his youth received the cold shoulder from art masters, and fell into hard times. Then, ENSHUYA Sakichi, a wealthy merchant, met Kuniyoshi and became enthralled with his talent. This work boldly weaves truth and ction into the fabric of the fateful en- counter with Sakichi that provided the chance for Kuniyoshi to emerge from the troubled times of his youth to popular artist, as well as the backdrop for his determination to draw samurai illustrations.
