PEACE SHADOW PROJECT

An art project inspired by the “shadows of death” which were created when the shadows cast by human beings at the moment of the atomic blast were permanently burned onto waIIs; the project aims to transform these shadows into “shadows of peace” through human awareness. Through websites and workshops, participants burn their own shadows onto paper to make a statement of oppositing to nuclear weapons. Using a web camera, users of the site can take a photograph of their shadows and add their designs. This is a new kind of signature drive, representing the quest for a nuclear-weapons-free world.
