SHIRAI Tsuyoshi ＋ YCAM video dance project「Choreography flmed: 5days of movement」

A video dance and web project exploring the relationship between dance expression and the viewing / creative environment surrounding the image. The work of video dance offers a cut-out of the dancer’s improvised movements, disclosing the presentness that video images bring to bodily expression. Both the work itself and all the footage shots for it are posted for streaming on the website, allowing for comparisons between the two and an examination of the artist’s viewpoint on improvisation and dance as it occurs in the work and its editing. This multi-approach to the origin of a single video work raises questions about the “fluctuating present” that circle around images and the body.
