Signified on the Web

A GIF image is generated through deep learning of the images found from Google image search for a specific word. For example, the term “apple” results in an image combining apple fruits, Apple’s logo and products. The image is displayed in contrast to the term’s dictionary description. The work depicts the correspondence between ever-updating signifié and signifiant (signified and signifier) through Google image search and deep learning.
