This project consists of 11 programmed sets of images that take plants and insects that are part of the everyday Japanese landscape today and use them to illustrate the contours and concept of time. A microscopic world is reenacted by way of a wide variety of techniques including time-apse photography and computer graphics. The false binweed and the ant, the waterleaf and the butterfly: these and other plants and insects keep time. They perform the function of clocks, and also open our imaginations to the extent of the world around us.
