“Variegation”

Bio art

Carolyn ANGLETON[USA]

Outline

The piece maps variegation effects in camellia cultivars to examine links between biological color formation and molecular processes. Using bacteria inoculated into petri dishes, these flower patterns are then reformulated by a second organism. This work spans both an artistic and scientific research-based practice, and is situated within the modern “biohacking” movement.
