Outline
The main story is about a young master who loves his cat too much and his servant boy at his beck and call. Another is about a diligently studious girl, women who are furiously jealous of her, and a teacher who falls in love with her. This collection of six short stories incorporates here and there expressions fashioned after ukiyo-e art, depicting the range of emotions – from cheerful to fun to melancholy – found in the everyday Edo period (1603-1868).
